NZ Native Plants Remedies
Known as Rongoa, NZ native plants are the New Zealand medicines and edible plants of old. Commonly gathered, prepared and used by NZ Indigenous peoples of Aotearoa - the maori, prior to euorpean colonisation.
These sought after every day natural remedies day were added to and expanded to by the colonisers who contributed their own traditional herbal knowledge.
Suzanne Aubert, a french healer embraced Rongoa wholeheartedly and formulated recipes based on her own experience with botanical remedies, chemistry, botany and the knowledge gained working along side Maori healers. Being fluent in the maori language, she produced a significant maori text, gathered and manufactured medicines (introducing Rongoa tinctures) & produced, monitored and catalogued new recipes that are still relevant and valued today by both maori and non-maori.
